LH Rapid Quantitative Test (Chemiluminescence Immunoassay) is used for in vitro quantitative detection of the Luteinizing hormone (LH) concentration in human serum and plasma that contains heparin /EDTA and other anticoagulants samples, mainly used for auxiliary diagnosis of reproductive hormones diseases.
Application
Luteinizing hormone (LH), also known as lutropin, is a hormone produced by gonadotropic cells in the anterior pituitary gland. The production of LH is regulated by gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) from the hypothalamus.
In females, an acute rise of LH, referred to as the "LH surge", triggers ovulation and the development of the corpus luteum. In males, where LH was previously called interstitial cell-stimulating hormone (ICSH), it stimulates the Leydig cells to produce testosterone.
LH acts synergistically with follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) to regulate reproductive functions in both males and females. While FSH primarily stimulates gametogenesis (the production of sperm and eggs), LH plays a key role in steroidogenesis, the production of sex steroids such as testosterone and estrogen.
The coordinated actions of LH and FSH are essential for the proper functioning of the male and female reproductive systems, highlighting the importance of this endocrine axis in regulating fertility and sexual development.
