CK-MB Rapid Quantitative Test (Chemiluminescence Immunoassay) is used for in vitro quantitative detection of the Creatine kinase-MB (CK-MB) concentration in human serum, plasma that contains heparin /EDTA and other anticoagulants and venous whole blood samples, mainly used for auxiliary diagnosis of cardiac diseases.
Application
Creatine kinase (CK) is an enzyme found in various tissues, including cardiac and skeletal muscle. One form of CK, known as CK-MB, is primarily found in cardiac muscle cells. There is also an isoenzyme form called CK-MiMi, which is mainly present in the mitochondria of cardiac and skeletal muscle.
In normal human serum, the predominant forms of CK are CK-MM and a small amount of CK-MB. When the concentration of CK-MB in the serum increases, it can indicate the occurrence of a myocardial infarction. In fact, the measurement of CK activity is considered more reliable for the diagnosis of myocardial infarction than electrocardiography. In a myocardial infarction, CK levels typically increase within 6 hours of onset, peak at 24 hours, and then return to normal within 3-4 days.
Among the CK isoenzymes, CK-MB has the highest diagnostic specificity for myocardial injury. In clinical practice, CK-MB is often measured in combination with myoglobin and troponin I. While troponin I is highly specific for myocardial injury, myoglobin and CK-MB have high early sensitivity. The combination of these three tests can improve both the specificity and sensitivity of the diagnosis.
