TT3 Rapid Quantitative Test (Chemiluminescence Immunoassay) is used for in vitro quantitative detection of the Total Triiodothyronine (TT3) concentration in human serum, plasma that contains heparin /EDTA and other anticoagulants and venous whole blood samples, mainly used for auxiliary diagnosis of thyroid diseases.
Application
Triiodothyronine (T3) and thyroxine (T4) are the two primary thyroid hormones secreted by the thyroid gland. Their production and release are regulated by thyroid-stimulating hormone (TSH), which is secreted by the anterior pituitary gland. As such, serum T3 concentrations primarily reflect the functional state of the peripheral tissues, rather than the secretory capacity of the thyroid gland itself. A decrease in the conversion of T4 to T3 can result in a reduction of circulating T3 levels.
Thyroid dysfunction can lead to either an overproduction (hyperthyroidism) or underproduction (hypothyroidism) of T3 and T4. Additionally, thyroid function can be affected if the pituitary gland or hypothalamus is dysfunctional, due to the direct influence of TSH.
The measurement of blood T3 levels can be used as an aid in the diagnosis of various thyroid disorders, as well as for monitoring the effectiveness of treatment in related patients. By assessing T3 concentrations, clinicians can gain valuable insights into the underlying thyroid hormone dynamics, which is crucial for the effective management of thyroid diseases.
